Well done on passing your exams lads and hope that you can live up to the warning posted on your clubs web page. POACHERS BEWARE.
What everyone would like to know is why has it taken so long for the AAC to get their act together to protect the river. Where on the river have the poachers to BEWARE???? as it has been a free for all from Birkenshaw to the Clyde. Salmon have been getting removed wholesale from below Ferniegair to the confluence in the past and nothing has been done about it apart from outside bailiffs visiting. Or does the AVON stop at Stonehouse!!!!!!! and suddenly evaporate into thin air. We are not taking away anything from the brave souls who have passed their exams they are to be commended, as bailiffing is a thankless task and these guys will be putting their lives on the line in some cases. We will monitor their progress and wait and see if the warning is like a lot of other stuff issued by those who profess to be the stalwarts of the club simply a load of HOT AIR. Its convictions that will be the measure of the new bailiffs success not idle threats by some pompous committee member. They now have the papers to do the job lets see if the have the balls that is required for the job! Good luck lads!!!!
The Clyde Exposed
We are a concerned group of anglers who fish the River Clyde and are shocked at the way the fishings in some areas are managed or should we say not managed. Poaching is a major problem yet anything we report seems to fall on deaf ears. The Crown Estates who own most of the salmon fishings have failed the River Clyde by allowing some of their tennents such as the Avon Angling Club (AAC) and the United Clyde Angling Protective Association Ltd(U.C.A.P.A.Ltd) to control the salmon lease but yet break the terms and conditions of said lease namely failing to prevent poaching. Over the next few weeks we the 'Grass Carp' will attempt to expose all of the nonesense that has gone on and which we feel has held a great river from becoming a premier salmon fishery. We will demonstrate how the Crown Estates and the Scottish Executive have sat on the fence and allowed one angling association to bully others. We will direct you to various web sites where evidence of the underhand tactics of U.C.A.P.A.Ltd This site is dedicated to all of the anglers who care but who are not listened to, perhaps now that everything is being made public those in charge might get off the proverbial fence and do the job they are paid to do!!!! We ask that anyone with any evidence of poaching or failure of an association to protect the fish please let us know and we will petition those who should be doing something about it and request written replies.

I also have been on the avon web site and i must say that i am terrified to think i fish the avon most weeks without a permit from millheugh to the glen avon. As i am aware i do not need and will never need a permit to fish this stretch so lets see if there exam they are supposed to have passed has given them also nowledge of what rights the angler has. CATCH ME IF YOUR GOOD ENOUGH AND LETS SEE IT GO TO COURT
I would ask previous post to be careful when fishing the area stated not to be found fishing for salmon or sea trout or be in possession of either as the Warranted bailiffs can in fact prosecute as the Avon Angling Club have the salmon rights to this stretch. However I did hear a few years ago that the stretch mentioned was left to the people of Larkhall to fish which if true will mean Brown Trout and Grayling.
It is also a fact that the Avon Angling Club insist that no Salmon or sea trout for that matter go any further than Ferniegair Dam.
Strange I remember electro-fishing being done on the Glengaval Water and loads of adult sea trout caught at the back end a few years ago it was reported at a meeting I was at. They actually got that many cock sea trout that they returned loads taking some for broodstock. Did you also know that if you get the permission of any of the land owners to fish you do not need a permit for brown trout or grayling. Just thought everyone should know. Before those with empty heads issue empty threats be sure you can back your words with actions. I will await being approached on the water by one of the new bailiffs or see if its just more hot air from an empty cylinder. My preferred section is from the Mill End to the Sunny Warm probably too tough for the clubs older generation to police so I hope these new bailiffs are fit and not some of the Last of the Summer Wine contingent that run the club. Oh nearly forgot Victor Limmerick Meldrew.
Spoke to some of my mates about the Poachers Beware threat and they laughed themselves silly and will be keeping a close eye on the bailiffs to see they do their job. Sort of 'Who guards the guards' so to speak
Who was the idiot that posted that threat? it it has done is created a scenario where locals will now set out to run rings round these new guys so because of that threat those poor buggers are going to get hell. I wish them luck in the Larkhall area there are some nasty characters to be found down at the river. If any of the bailiffs get a hard time blame the lunatic that posted that threat.
Is grasscarp aware of the amount of salmon that have been spawning at the bottom of the avon as the POACHERS ARE there foul hooking these and killing them who is responsible for these fish to spawn without harm as this seems to be happening to often
